The story focuses on Isha, a kind, simple woman who stands for equality, and how she becomes a witness to a tense family situation at her workplace. We also meet Gayatri, a selfish daughter-in-law who manipulates her family for her own benefit. The TV serial Ram Bhavan airing on Colors TV and streaming on Jio Cinema from 29th January 2025 at 8.30 PM deals with serious issues like how elderly parents are mistreated by their children when they aren’t financially independent.

Cast:

  • Khushbu Rajendra as Isha
  • Samiksha Jaiswal as Gayatri
  • Mishkat Varma as Om Vajpayee

Storyline of Episode 1:

Isha believes in good values, she is a gentle and hardworking woman who believes in justice and equality. Ram Bhavan serial shows Isha praying at a temple for a successful career. The priest seeing her pure heart tells her that she will lead a good life. Isha has completed her 3-month internship at a 5-star restaurant where Gayatri is the General Manager. Gayatri is proud of her successful career and looks down on her middle-class husband and his family. She treats her elderly in-laws badly because she thinks she is the only one supporting the family financially. On the other hand, Om who is Gayatri’s unemployed brother-in-law gets to know about the mistreatment towards his parents and seeks revenge by causing a scene at Gayatri’s workplace with some goon friends. Isha who is unaware of their personal connection, sees the high-voltage drama on her last day of the internship at the hotel and gets to meet Om who also insults her as he is upset with Gayatri’s behavior.

Review of Ram Bhavan serial Episode 1:

Positive: Ram Bhavan does an amazing job of showing the problems faced by elderly people who aren’t financially independent. How young children take their elderly parents for granted, is a scenario quite relevant in the present times. The story makes you think about the importance of respect and equality in families. The drama between Isha, Gayatri, and Om keeps you hooked in the first episode. The show shows real-life struggles that brings different emotions inside us.

Negative: Being the first episode, the Ram Bhavan serial makes it feel a bit overdramatic, especially in the scenes where Gayatri insults her father-in-law by throwing a blouse on his face as he didn’t iron it properly and also handing him an Rs. 50 note and asking him to walk home back after dropping her daughter to school. While Gayatri’s character is the worst one in terms of morality, we are yet to know enough about her background or why she acts the way she does. Probably the coming episodes may tell us the reasons for her behavior and why Om’s parents still live with Gayatri despite so much disrespect.

Series Quality: The overall quality of the serial looks good. The first episode was well-directed, with good pacing, and the family drama looks genuine, something like ghar-ghar ki kahani when children are unemployed and there is only one sole breadwinner. The show makes a good attempt to make you think about important issues in society and family life.

Performances:

  • Khushbu Rajendra (Isha): Khushbu brings originality to Isha’s character. It is easy to connect with her eyes and expressions.
  • Samiksha Jaiswal (Gayatri): Samiksha plays Gayatri as a strong, manipulative woman, and yeah, she makes us feel uncomfortable like we get to feel how can someone be so cruel with their in-laws.
  • Mishkat Varma (Om Vajpayee): Mishkat’s performance as Om is strong as well. He ensures his anger is understood by Gayatri and he is determined to get justice for his parents, which shows his sympathetic side as well.

Verdict:

Ram Bhavan’s Episode 1 is a good family drama of 34 minutes, to be precise, that talks about generational conflicts and the importance of financial independence. Watch the serial for its engaging story and interesting characters who ensure to give you a lesson on family values. It also supports the social message of respecting the elderly and having a voice against injustice. If you’re looking for a show that combines drama with meaningful lessons, Ram Bhavan is definitely worth a watch. I go with 4/5 stars.
