Highlights
Filmy gangs, assemble! Yami Gautam Dhar and Pratik Gandhi are sharing the screen for the first time in ‘Dhoom Dhaam’. Directed by Rishab Seth, this action-comedy released on Netflix on Friday. It is a quirky film to check out this Valentine’s Day.
The official synopsis for ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ describes Veer Poddar (Pratik) and Koyal Chaddha (Yami) as an oddball couple as they are forcefully thrust into a chaotic chase, dodging goons and cops in a hunt for the mysterious ‘Charlie’.
Dhoom Dhaam: Let me take you through the plot (no spoilers)
Right in the beginning of the film, you can find Yami Gautam’s character Koyal being described by her parents as a sushil and sanskaari girl. She apparently returns home by 7:30 pm and keeps her distance from men.
She and Pratik Gandhi’s character Veer – a mild-mannered vet(erinarian) (you’ll understand!) – are going to marry in the next 15 days. Veer earned himself a scar as a badge of honour as he tackled some goons in Gujarat, as per his family members.
Time is of the essence. Panditji has asked both families to prepare for a marriage in a short time. Veer and Koyal get hitched. Ohh, did I forget to tell you about their bachelorette parties? That’s another story for you all to unfold. I promised, no spoilers.
Chaos is just around the corner. Veer and Koyal are in their honeymoon suite – and a gentle but notable music is playing in the background. Suddenly, they hear the bell ring and as Veer opens the door, a couple of armed men (Eijaz Khan and Pavitra Sarkar) forcefully enter.
These men are asking for a ‘Charlie’. But the frustrating part is neither Veer nor Koyal has a clue about this mysterious name. Shots are fired. Koyal finds a (dangerous) route to escape and Veer (the milder person) comes right after.
The chase is interesting, to say the least. Yami Gautam’s character takes a 180 degrees turn and becomes someone Veer had no clue about until that time. She is bold and courageous. She appears to be an adrenaline junkie.
Veer Poddar and Koyal Chaddha spend their honeymoon night dodging the armed men and looking for the mysterious Charlie. ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ is at full throttle – literally! The adrenaline kicks in early and maintains the right rate till the end.
Dhoom Dhaam: Pratik Gandhi doesn’t disappoint
Does Harshad Mehta and Scam 1992 ring a bell? Our superstar Pratik Gandhi played the former character in the latter film. His performance in this thrilling series based on the Indian stock market made headlines. He is too good in it.
Coming to ‘Dhoom Dhaam’, Pratik’s character as Veer Poddar is not like a single layer. He has multiple layers to his on-screen character and Pratik does a phenomenal job at presenting each of the layers. Veer is an ‘nice’ person, you’ll realise it soon.
The film is about 1 hour and 48 minutes long. In the earlier part of the release, you can find out male lead talking about his fears, such as claustrophobia and acrophobia. But it is going to be interesting to see Veer exposing himself to his phobias to put an end to them.
He is a mild-mannered gentleman. But his courageous side should not be underestimated. He appears to be a fan of Bruce Lee, imagine! The latter half of the film is equally interesting. Veer does a good job at protecting Koyal from the real goons.
Veer is a vet(erinarian). One of the many things he loves about the animals is that they don’t judge. He uses his medical skills to trace Charlie. No, I’m not kidding! You need to see through the film to find out this part. It’s a big hit.
There is one more thing I liked about Veer in ‘Dhoom Dhaam’. Pratik Gandhi’s character is a fabulous dancer. This particular scene in the film presents Veer Poddar as a completely different personality. He nails this part. I shouldn’t elaborate any further.
Dhoom Dhaam: Yami Gautam and her mic-drop monologue
In my honest opinion, Yami Gautam Dhar is the glue that holds different pieces of ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ together. She is fearless and lets her husband Veer face his phobias to find different experiences he hasn’t had until today.
Yami as Koyal Chaddha is a great choice. She nails the action sequences and her facial expressions are the real deal. Beneath her composed exterior lies a rebellious spirit. I’m a big fan of her spontaneity in the film.
Monologues carry a special place in my heart – and so do in many other film enthusiasts. Yami did a great job in her monologue. She possibly dropped her monologue in a single breath and netizens cannot keep calm.
Koyal is a rebellious spirit, as mentioned before. In one scene, Veer points out the lies she and her family had said before their marriage had been finalised. Koyal retaliates, dropping a strong monologue that highlights the different challenges women face on a daily basis.
The fiesty Koyal speaks out against harrasment, discrimination and control. It is one of the many scenes from ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ I could deeply connect to. Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi are the perfect pair for this story.
Dhoom Dhaam: Notable performances from supporting cast
There is Prateik Babbar in ‘Dhoom Dhaam’. He and Koyal Chaddha had been in a strong romantic relationship some time back. Prateik’s limited screentime doesn’t matter as he makes each second count. It’s true. His cameo is nothing but short and impactful.
The other notable names from the film are Eijaz Khan and Pavitra Sarkar. They effortlessly played the armed men who forcefully entered the honeymoon suite in the earlier part of the film. The chase they launched is a great drop for all adrenaline junkies.
Eijaz and Pavitra did a fabulous job as the ‘goons’. There is Mukul Chadda, too, to praise. He is an outstanding actor and has constantly amazed us through his different roles. In ‘Dhoom Dhaam’, you can find Mukul as Sanjay Riberio, the one from the ‘CID’.
Garima Yajnik’s character ‘Kanika’ can’t be missed. She is playing the female lead Koyal’s best friend. She too has a different side to her personality, just like Koyal. Let me not spoil the present for you. Catch on to all the fun right on Netflix itself.
Dhoom Dhaam: Here are some parts you might pass
Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi are truly the cherry on the cake. Their performance is, undeniably, entertaining and memorable. But no matter the amount of energy they exude throughout the story, in some parts, it feels like something is missing.
‘Dhoom Dhaam’ has plenty of surprises. But perhaps, the makers could have kept the surprise quotient a bit higher to keep the audience at the edge of their seats. The film is seeking to keep us amused throughout the runtime. But it could do it in some parts only.
This action-comedy tickles the funny bone often. One segment I remember vividly is Veer telling Koyal that he is a vegetarian as “I cannot eat my patients.” It is a humorous moment in the film. The climax segment as the ML repeats his code phrase for help is also hilarious.
The actors playing the parents of Koyal and Veer do not make a notable impression on the audience. Their roles could have been enhanced to add more scope to the story. Essentially, ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ might not be as much fun as you are anticipating it to be.
Dhoom Dhaam: My honest opinion

Is ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ the best entertainer of 2025 so far? Some parts could have been better, but the overall release is a great piece. This Yami Gautam-Pratik Gandhi starrer is at full throttle, as already mentioned. The pace appears good and the music is certainly great.
The male and female leads appear like an oddball couple in the beginning. But they start to object to this theory later on as the plot proceeds. The supporting cast, including Prateik Babbar and Eijaz Khan, perform at their finest.
Is ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ a hit or a miss? Definitely a hit. Check it out on Netflix at netflix.com/in/title/81943001.
