Mere Husband Ki Biwi Storyline:

Ankur and Prabhleen get married only to realize why they are not meant to be together. With a broken heart, Ankur meets Antara but Prabhleen makes a re-entry into Ankur’s life as she suffers from retrograde amnesia. What will Ankur do in this complicated situation, forms the crux of this film.

Review:

Positive Aspects:

Mere Husband Ki Biwi has crisp editing by Ninad Khanolkar and a modern-day relevant love story and amazing dialogues written by Mudassar Aziz. The film keeps the audience hooked right from the start to the end due to its interesting storyline.

The film has strong performances by Arjun Kapoor as Ankur who has a broken heart, all due to his first failed married life with Prabhleen, played by Bhumi Pednekar. We don’t really see Arjun and Bhumi on the screen but their characters Ankur and Prabhleen who fall in love, get married, fight with each other, and get divorced as well.

Arjun has given his career-best performance as he enacts all the scenes in the most perfect way, be it confusion, anger, frustration, sadness, or humor. Complementing Arjun is not Bhumi or Rakulpreet but his on-screen best friend played by Harsh Gujral who shares more screen time with him than any other actor in the film.

Honestly speaking, comedian Harsh Gujral as Rehaan has helped the film to keep moving ahead with his natural comic timing and witty dialogues that make us laugh at Ankur’s life story more than feel emotional. His hilarious one-liners on dosti and yaari, coupled with his expressive reactions to Ankur’s messy love life, make him a standout. His persistent support for Ankur is so adorable that you will find yourself wishing for a friend like him in real life.

The reason behind the film’s title, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, remains a mystery until the very end, despite Ankur and Prabhleen’s divorce, thus making it worth watching till the last scene.

Rakulpreet Singh plays Antara, Ankur’s new love interest with confidence and charm. While she fits the role of the glamorous, bold woman, much of her presence in the second half is dedicated to confrontations with Prabhleen.

The supporting cast, which includes Aditya Seal, Dino Morea, Shakti Kapoor, Kanwaljeet Singh, and Anita Raj, deliver convincing performances, adding to the film’s overall appeal.

Negative Aspects:

Similar to a television serial, the film features numerous catfights between the two women in Ankur’s life. These could have been minimized to allow more depth in exploring Ankur’s relationship with Prabhleen or Antara.

While Ankur is clear about spending his life with Antara, the narrative doesn’t clearly establish what deeply drew him to her. Had the focus shifted away from the catfight angle, the overall storyline would have felt more stronger and impactful.

Movie Quality:

The movie Mere Husband Ki Biwi boasts peppy tracks like Gori Hai Kalaiyan and Ikk Vaari, perfect for festive dance performances. The background score effectively enhances the emotional journey of the audience.

The production design is visually stunning, offering a vibrant exploration of New Delhi alongside the scenic beauty of Scotland. As a love story, the film adopts a bright and cheerful color palette, adding to its lively and feel-good atmosphere.

Verdict: 3/5

Mere Husband Ki Biwi is a one-time watch, especially for couples recovering from broken relationships. The film offers a lighthearted take on love, heartbreak, and second chances, motivating viewers to embrace new beginnings without the societal stigma of divorce or breakups.

Cast:

Arjun Kapoor as Ankur, Rakul Preet Singh as Antara, Bhumi Pednekar as Prabhleen, Aditya Seal as Rajjo, Harsh Gujral as Ankur and Prabhleen’s best friend
