South Korean actor Park Sung-hoon is currently facing serious backlash on social media. The 39-year-old recently appeared in Squid Game 2 – a hit series about hundreds of cash-strapped contestants competing in children’s games for a tempting prize.

Sung-hoon had been getting appreciated for his performance in the K-drama. But things started turning south as he recently accidentally posted a Japanese pornographic photo parodying Squid Game on his Instagram story.

The image containing explicit content has been deleted. But by the time Park Sung-hoon deleted the photo from his Instagram story, it had already been circulated among scores of netizens, sparking criticism from social media users and media outlets.

Sung-hoon has left the cast of ‘The Tyrant’s Chef’, also featuring Girls’ Generation member Yoona, 34. On January 13, Sports Chosun reported that Lee Chae-min, 24, is in talks to replace Sung-hoon in the upcoming K-drama.

Chae-min has earlier been seen in hit series such as ‘Hierarchy’, ‘Crash Course in Romance’, ‘Bunny and Her Boys’ and ‘See You in My 19th Life’. Before this incident, Sung-hoon had been on the rise after his roles in ‘The Glory’ and ‘Queen of Tears’.

In a statement on January 12, a spokesperson from Studio Dragon – the production company of The Tyrant’s Chef – confirmed that it has become difficult for prolific actor Park Sung-hoon to participate in the upcoming project.

The spokesperson further noted that the production team and Sung-hoon’s side engaged in meticulous discussions and later reached the decision to not continue on the project. Both the actor and his agency apologised for the recent incident.

On December 30, Sung-hoon accidentally posted the photo in question. During the time, BH Entertainment – the agency he is part of – explained that the actor had got the image on a direct message and accidentally posted it by pressing the incorrect button, as per cna.

On January 8, Sung-hoon spoke to South Korean journalists to highlight his version of the incident. He noted that as he got the image, he became so shocked that he thought it could cause a serious issue. So he saved the image to later give it to the staff.

But ultimately, it is his mistake that led to the post, Sung-hoon stressed, expressing that he feels deeply sorry for the incident. He continues to reflect on his actions and the seriousness of the situation. He expresses commitment to continue as a responsible actor.
