Sophie Turner is currently in negotiations for the role of Lara Croft for Amazon MGM Studios production that also includes the talented Emmy Winner Phoebe Waller- Bridge as a writer and executive producer of the series, which was announced months ago.
The high- profile role was auditioned by many but went to Sophie Turner who also has an Emmy for her popular role in ‘Game of Thrones’ as Sansa Stark. The role is previously played by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, cementing a fanbase.
Tomb Raider series was a dream project for many and is said to be in tracks for a while, only taking course after the inclusion of Phoebe Waller- Bridges, who praised the role and her excitement saying, “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all”, as per Deadline.
Sophie Turner will be seen in an action packed role in Tomb Raider, executive produced by Phoebe Waller- Bridge and Jenny Robins and produced by Amazon MGM studios and Crystal Dynamics. The Deadline caught the first smoke of Turner’s casting while the representatives from Amazon are yet to confirm the news, according to the source.
The series was greenlit by Amazon and will be expected to stream on Amazon Prime. Turner is currently associated with two projects- a ITV/CW miniseries ‘Joan’ and another limited series for Max, ‘The Staircase’.
