The ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, California have led to massive destruction. This has affected both residents and the luxurious homes of famous Hollywood celebrities. For the unversed, several Hollywood stars have their homes located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles, California but unfortunately, those homes have turned to ashes.
Earlier this week, the fires started in Los Angeles, which have already led to the loss of lives of at least five people and caused destruction to over 1,100 buildings. On Tuesday, the wealthy neighborhood in the Pacific Palisades strong winds led to fires spreading quickly. As the fires wiped out the streets, residents fled and firefighters struggled to contain the rising flames. It is very clear that the destruction has created havoc not just among the residents but also the celebrities coming forward to share their grief as they lose their homes. People are in shock as they look at just the remains of their homes while some returning residents are in disbelief as their properties stand in ruins.
Jamie Lee Curtis, James Woods, Mandy Moore, Mark Hamill, and Maria Shriver shared publicly how they were forced to evacuate as uncontrollable fires ruined their lavish homes. Pacific Palisades, which is home to film, television, and music stars, had to face the destruction of the largest blaze which consumed almost 12,000 acres (5,000 hectares). Officials are yet to understand the full extent of the damage, but at least 100,000 residents are under evacuation orders, with nearly 30,000 structures at risk.
Several Hollywood stars have had their homes destroyed in the recent wildfires. Here is the list:
1) Leighton Meester and her husband Adam Brody
Actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester have lost their $7 million mansion to the wildfires. The couple purchased the five-bedroom home in 2019, but it is now destroyed in flames. The couple had attended the Golden Globe Awards just two days before the fires and they lived in the 6,000-square-foot home with their two young daughters.
2) Anthony Hopkins
Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins has lost his home in the wildfires. Photos on the media outlets show nothing left of the property, and the gates are still standing, wide open. The trees that once provided privacy are now burned.
3) John Goodman
Actor John Goodman’s Pacific Palisades property was destroyed in the wildfires. It was directly in the path of the blaze, which spread quickly, burning over 15,000 acres. Only the backyard pool, filled with blackened water, and the driveway leading to rubble remain. Aerial photos reveal debris is spread across the property and a large tree that once stood at the front has now fallen.
4) Miles Teller
Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh bought their dream home for $7.5 million in April 2023, but it has now been completely destroyed in the wildfires. Shocking photos show a car in the driveway, completely charred. The home, which was built in 2015, had five bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a movie theater, a gym, and a custom staircase. It was their secondary residence.
5) Anna Faris
Anna Faris’ $5 million eco-friendly home was totally destroyed in the wildfires. Aerial photos show that all that remains is a pile of rubble. Faris had got the property in 2018, after her split from ex-husband Chris Pratt.
6) Billy Crystal
Billy Crystal’s home was fully destroyed, with only the tennis courts remaining standing. Aerial images show the courts remain the same, despite the surrounding devastation. Crystal and his wife Janice shared about the heartbreaking loss in a statement, mentioning how the home they lived in since 1979, was the place where they raised their children and grandchildren.
7) Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton’s beachfront mansion in Malibu was destroyed in the wildfires. The home is not her main residence and it is reported that local businesses along the waterfront were also destroyed in the blaze.
8) Eugene Levy
American Pie star Eugene Levy’s home was destroyed in the wildfires. He had to flee while stuck in traffic with other residents following evacuation orders.
9) Cary Elwes
Cary Elwes confirmed that his family safely evacuated, but their Malibu home was destroyed in the wildfires. He also thanked the firefighters, first responders, and law enforcement for their tireless efforts.
10) Mandy Moore
Actor-musician Mandy Moore shared that her Altadena home, which she shares with her husband Taylor Goldsmith, was partially burned in the fire. The main part of their house remains standing but it cannot be lived in. The fire destroyed Taylor’s studio, instruments, and equipment, as well as their garage and back house.
Other celebrities whose homes were destroyed include Jeff Bridges, and James Woods, reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Songwriter Diane Warren, and TV host Ricki Lake, and more.
