The Chichester Festival Theatre has announced its exciting 2025 season, providing a mix of musicals, classic plays, and family shows.

The Chichester Festival Theatre has announced its interesting 2025 season, which features a mix of musicals, classic plays, and family shows. Audiences can enjoy five world premieres, two UK premieres, and affordable tickets with 12,000 priced at £10 and 9,000 Prologue tickets at £5 for young viewers.

1) The Government Inspector

  • Dates: 25 April – 24 May 2025
  • Cast: Tom Rosenthal
  • Director: Gregory Doran
  • The story takes a comic view on corruption and mistaken identity in a small town, which is based on Nikolai Gogol’s classic and adapted by Phil Porter.

2) The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

  • Dates: 5 May – 14 June 2025
  • Cast: Mark Addy, Jenna Russell
  • Director: Katy Rudd
  • A new musical adaptation based on Rachel Joyce’s novel and it follows Harold Fry on an unexpected journey filled with hope and reflection along with music and lyrics by Passenger.

3) Anna Karenina

  • Dates: 7 – 28 June 2025
  • Cast: Natalie Dormer
  • Director: Phillip Breen
  • It is a powerful adaptation by Phillip Breen of Leo Tolstoy’s tragic story of love, betrayal, and society.

4) Marie and Rosetta

  • Dates: 25 June – 26 July 2025
  • Cast: Beverley Knight
  • Director: Monique Touko
  • It is a musical that celebrates the life of gospel legend Sister Rosetta Tharpe and her partnership with Marie Knight.

5) Top Hat

  • Dates: 14 July – 6 September 2025
  • Director: Kathleen Marshall
  • It is a glamorous musical filled with dance and romance, featuring classic Irving Berlin songs. It is based on RKO’s Motion Picture adapted for the stage by Matthew White and Howard Jacques.

6) Choir

  • Dates: 2 – 30 August 2025
  • Director: Katy Rudd
  • A world-premiere musical by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti about the power of music to bring communities together.

7) Hamlet

  • Dates: 6 September – 4 October 2025
  • Cast: Giles Terera
  • Director: Justin Audibert
  • William Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy is about Prince Hamlet’s struggle with revenge, madness, and morality.

8) Lord of the Flies

  • Dates: 19 September – 11 October 2025
  • Director: Anthony Lau
  • William Golding’s Lord of the Flies adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams about schoolboys stranded on an island who descend into a mess.

9) Safe Space

  • Dates: 11 October – 8 November 2025
  • Director: Roy Alexander Weise
  • Written by Jamie Bogyo, this play explores contemporary campus politics and free speech.

10) The Three Little Pigs

  • Dates: 6 – 28 December 2025
  • A delightful family musical by Stiles and Drewe, bringing the classic fairy tale to life.

11) A Boy Called Christmas

  • Dates: 15 – 31 December 2025
  • Director: Dale Rooks
  • A magical adaptation of Matt Haig’s novel, after a boy’s adventure to find his father and discover the magic of Christmas.
