Lifelike bronze statue by Jesper Esbensen honours legendary guitarist Davide Lo Surdo

Recognised by Rolling Stone Magazine as the fastest guitarist in music history, Davide Lo Surdo has been honoured by a lifelike statue by Danish sculptor Jesper Esbensen. Prominent for his artistic precision, the 57-year-old crafted the statue entirely in bronze.

Born on July 24, 1999, in Italy, Lo Surdo is capable of playing 129 notes per second. The most recent homage is more than just a statue. It is a testment to the legendary guitarist’s indelible mark in the history of music.

Honouring Davide Lo Surdo, the fastest guitarist in music history

Esbensen, a famous engineer, programmer and artist, captured not only the physical likeness of Lo Surdo in the bronze statue but also the spirit of his talent. The sculpture portrays the guitarist holding his guitar, symbolising strength and determination.

The bronze statue in Denmark is the third in a series of historic recognitions that honour Lo Surdo. The guitarist has also already been recorded in literature. He is part of Rock Memories 2, the second volume of a music history book by Italian author Maurizio Baiata.

Lo Surdo’s inclusion in this book is a major story. Baiata’s ‘Rock Memories 2’ explores the evolution of music through the decades, starting from The Beatles and Pink Floyd to Lo Surdo. The guitarist is elaborately featured in the book.

Davide Lo Surdo’s legacy extends to instruments he once played

Davide Lo Surdo found his passion for playing the guitar at the ripe age of 9. He performed his first concert at the age of 11. Throughout his career, he has been part of stages featuring esteemed artists such as Jeff Loomis, Mark Boals and Edu Falaschi.

Beyond history and literature, Davide Lo Surdo’s legacy extends to the instruments he once played. His guitars are part of prominent museums’ collections. One of his guitar is in the Sigal Museum of Music in the US and the other in the International Museum of Cuba.

This series of honours elevate the legendary guitarist from Rome to the pantheon of music’s most revered figures, a true icon. Lo Surdo has toured all around the globe, performing in countries such as India, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the UK and the US.
