The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), one of the most prestigious platforms for the brilliance of Indian Cinema will be presenting the edition of its Indian Panorama segment shortly. Among 646 movies, the committee chose 25 feature and 20 non-feature films to be presented this year. This selection will showcase India’s diverse and artistic films selected by juries.
Opening Film of the Indian Panorama
“Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,” directed by Randeep Hooda, will be the opening feature film of the fest, which will make the audience quite happy since it will be about patriotism. The non-feature category will commence with the Ladakhi film titled ‘Ghar Jaisa Kuch’ by filmmaker Harsh Sangani providing an excellent view of Ladakh’s narrative aptitude.
Race and Ethnicity in Feature Film
The feature film jury, led by the accomplished director and screenplay writer Dr Chandra Prakash Dwivedi selected the list of feature films that has included potentials as well as the established directors. Some of the jury members are the actors Manoj Joshi and Susmita Mukherjee while there are directors like Himansu Sekhar Khatua and Oinam Gautam Singh, Cinematographer Neelaabh Kaul. The feature film lineup spans multiple languages and regions, illustrating India’s cinematic diversity:

6. Jigarthanda Double X (Tamil) – Directed by Karthik Subbaraj
7. Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) (Malayalam) – Directed by Blessy
8. Article 370 (Hindi) – Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale
9. Gypsy (Marathi) – Directed by Shashi Chandrakant Khandare
10. Srikanth (Hindi) – Directed by Tushar Hiranandani
Among the mainstream cinema participation, movies such as “Karkhanu” by, Rushabh Thanki, Gujarati & “12th Fail” by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Hindi are few that boast of acclaimed directors and stories that make a difference.
Non-Feature Films: Realism, Real Stories
The non-feature segment will screen twenty films chosen from 262 entries and the jury will be headed over by Subbiah Nallamuthu, an award-winning documentary and wildlife filmmaker. This section involves the cinema ranging from different languages and topics, personal to socio-cultural, documentarians, and every dialogue in between. Key selections include:
1. 6-A Akash Ganga (Hindi) – Directed by Nirmal Chander
2. Amar Aaj Marega (Hindi) – Directed by Rajat Kariya
3. Amma’s Pride (Tamil) – Directed by Shiva Krish
4. Bahi – Tracing My Ancestors (Hindi) – Directed by Rachita Gorowala
5. Ballad of the Mountain (Hindi) – Directed by Tarun Jain
6. Batto Ka Bulbula (Haryanvi) – Directed by Akshay Bhardwaj
7. Chanchisoa (Garo) – Directed by Elvachisa Ch Sangma and Dipankar Das
8. Google Matrimony (English) – Directed by Abhinav Athrey
9. Mo Bou, Mo Gaan (Oriya) – Directed by Subash Sahoo
10. Sivantha Mann (Tamil) – Directed by Infant
While making a list of non-feature films, it is acknowledged to be aware of documentary styles, social issues, cultural explorations, and personal reflections, ensuring a well-rounded selection for audiences.
The final chosen titles of the Indian Panorama for both categories were judged through critical scrutiny by esteemed jury boards applying both industrial competency and art appreciation. Every member of the jury participated in the detailed grind that the selection process entails, and the list as finalized offers the true reflection of the tremendous cinematic talent that India has to offer in the variety of forms that it underwent in the course of transition.
